Double Glazing Repairs FAQs - Misted Glass & More

Can you get rid of the condensation on my windows which occurs in cold weather? Or do I have to have brand new windows installed?

A: It is generally possible to upgrade the glass in your current frames to high performance energy efficient glass, so you should not need to go to the expense of new window frames. The Mr Misty team can assess the state of your windows and propose a cost-effective solution.

By changing the glass in your windows with Planitherm argon gas filled double glazed units and employing SWISSSPACER warm edge technologies in your windows, condensation build up around the window and its corners can be eradicated. We offer a service within the Suffolk and Essex area to replace your double glazed units with new energy efficient glass. If the ventilation in your room is a contributing factor, we can also install trickle vents to windows to help eliminate the problem.

Can my upvc window handles be replaced?

A: Yes, Mr Misty offers a upvc window handle repair and replacement service within the Suffolk and Essex area. We can come to your property and replace your handles for a small cost.

The seals around my double glazed windows have shrunk- can you help?

A: Yes, there are many different profiles of seals or ‘gaskets’. We can undertake a free survey and give you a competitive price for replacing them.

Can my front door handle be replaced?

A: Entrance door handle replacement is a service we offer at Mr Misty. There are many different profiles of door handles. 95% of the time we can replace the front door handle like for like, but sometimes handle profiles do get discontinued. In such cases, we can discuss the alternatives with you.

Why does my double glazed unit misted in-between the glass?

A: This is because the seal holding the two panes of glass together has deteriorated around the unit. Mr Misty Double Glazing Repairs offers a service within the Suffolk and Essex area to replace just the glass and not the frame, saving you £££s.

Why does my window let in a draft?

A: Your window could have faulty hinges that do not close correctly. We offer a service within the Suffolk and Essex area to assess what is wrong with poorly performing window and replace hinges and seals as appropriate for a small charge.

Why does my window let so much noise in?

A: Either you only have a single pane of glass in your window, which doesn’t do a great job on cancelling the noise vibrations from outside - or perhaps your hinges are not closing properly, causing a gap which lets in noise pollution. At Mr Misty we can identify the issue and offer a secondary glazing, double glazing replacement or undertake maintenance to your windows as appropriate to eradicate such problems. Do get in contact now»

When I move the handle to open my window, it will not open. What has happened?

A: Either the locking mechanism or the handle has stopped working. Faulty window locks and broken handles can generally be easily replaced. We offer a service within the Suffolk and Essex area to fix this problem.
